Outline of Virtual SLC Competitive Events Plan
Attached in a downloadable guide is an outline of how virtual events will be run. The events that are live, are highlighted in yellow. The chart is organized by event type and then indicates if it has an online test, additional components (along with submission dates) and if the event is live or not.
Conference Registration Window January 25- February 12
Your advisor must register you for the conference during this window. Only affiliated HOSA members in good standing may be registered for the conference.
This year we are offering two registration opportunities for student members:
- Full Competitor registration for $25 which will include competition, conference attendance, and a t-shirt
- Conference Only registration for $10 for affiliated members who which to attend the learning opportunities at the virtual conference and are not competing. T-shirt is not included at this price.
Online Video Submission Window For Technical Skill Events January 25- February 12
New this year MOST technical skill events (Health Professions and Emergency Preparedness Events) will have a video submission to qualify to sit for the written exam. Competitors should be practicing all of the skills for their event not knowing which ones they will be asked to submit a video of.
The “mystery skill(s)” will be announced on January 25, 2021 in which competitors will be asked to film a video of themselves performing one-two of the technical skills from the skills rubric. Along with the “mystery skill,” tips for how to record and instructions for uploading the video will be released. Competitors should continue to follow all guidelines required including proper dress and professional interactions with their patient and judges. Deadline to submit the video is February 12, 2021. The technical skill video will be used as a qualifier to sit for the online test.
Online Written Testing Window February 22-March 5
All Health Science Events (commonly referred to as knowledge tests); Health Professions and Emergency Preparedness Events; and any other events with a written testing component must be scheduled with your advisor and test proctor during this window. Note: this year, extemporaneous writing will also take place during this window with the proctor.
Supplemental Materials Deadline March 26
Because we are going virtual, many events have supplemental materials and videos that will need to be submitted by March 26, 2021 in order to be scored. Please check your event information below to see what you are responsible for uploading by this date. Instructions and forms to upload coming soon.
Virtual State Leadership Conference April 14
We are excited to be hosting a virtual leadership conference with engaging educational symposiums and workshops on April 14. Awards ceremonies will be happening live in real time from your home/school.
